Hey loves! So here's my Hello Kitty collection look. Unfortunately the colors washed out in these photos, I have no idea why, but hopefully they give enough of an idea. I was about to splurge on some of the HK lip products, but I really already have a lot of the same shades (even in MAC) so I saved a lil' bit of money. Anyway, here it is! (The earrings are Givenchy, the hair thing is from Ulta--by Bedhead--and the striped top is INC).

About this look:

It's definitely doll-like! The color layout was inspired by some of the ad photos from Harajuku Lovers perfume. Really pastel, pinks and blues, and innocent looking. Lots of baby-doll colors with just a hint of glitter to keep it fun. Really a good look for daytime outings, though it probably won't show up as well at night!

About this look:

It's definitely smokin'! :D I looove the contrast of using a navy matte liner next to opalescent gold shadow. It really pops the eyes and looks mysterious. To get things looking kind of vampish (hey, weekends are weekends), I concentrated the lip color on the middle, going over the sides only lightly. That way you get that ultra sexy yet soft "bee-stung" look that was so popular in the 20s and 30s. Can you say vintage?

Yes. Another look. Today I decided to do a modified, bolder version of yesterday's look and pop some contrast in. I used the same purples, but added vibrant contrasting orange-y corals and plums along with a pale shimmery lip to kick things up a notch. :)

About this look:
It's bold, that's for sure. Probably not for the faint of heart/color or the strict office. But thanks to my (low paying) job, I can wear whatever makeup I want! :D I used five shadows on the eyes; a medium light coral on the inner corner, a bright vibrant orange-y coral on the inner lid, a very vibrant lilac on the outer 1/2 of the lid, and a deep vibrant plum on the corner and crease. Plus, of course, a highlight underneath the brow. Blending was actually a charm, thanks to the Bare Escentuals brushes that came with my Platinum kit over a year ago. The nice thing about the Coastal Scents eyeshadows is that they blend VERY well, plus they contain a bit of natural shimmer, so you really don't need to do much work!

Good evening from rainy, cold, and dark California! I was looking around the net for inspiration and came upon a photo of one of my absolute favorite ladies of all time: Former ballerina and actress Audrey Hepburn. I LOVE this photo and immediately rushed off with my inspiration. My look came out a touch more lilac than pink, but that's what I wanted (I don't look as good in pinks.) Here you are!

About this look:

It's so soft and pretty. The ultimate feminine flirty look, in my opinion! Soft blending on the eyeshadow is a must. I also went a little bit heavier on the highlight eyeshadow (Silk) than usual, to give a more bright, lifted look. The hints of shimmer all around keep things enchanted and soft. The liner is not the usual black--too harsh for this!--but I dampened my eyeliner brush and mixed a deep dark violet with a soft plum to go over the upper and lower lash lines. The soft line of lilac glitter liner rounds everything out and looks perfect for a day (or night) out. The lips are natural and soft, no liner here! You don't want to define the shape too much, as this look is all about softness. I smudged my eyeliner lightly with a brush to make sure it wouldn't appear too harsh. Flirty!

Ta mes amis! Today's look is a bit more neutral toned, but with a lot of vibrancy within. I'm off to class/rehearsal soon, so this look will stick well when I dance (and sweat.) The colors show well, as I dampened my brush before applying each of them. So without further ado...!

Vanilla is underrated...especially in lattés

Today I did a little bit of light shopping, accompanied by a coupon for a discount on Ulta products. I picked up a gorgeous shadow and lip gloss for free, both of which I used for my FotD below. I was a little disappointed that the shadow (Amethyst) didn't have a super high color payoff for all its shimmery glory. But I'm going to try again tomorrow and foil it to see if I can't get the pigment to rub off a bit more. The lip gloss, "Charmed", however, I was spectacularly pleased with. For under $5 it's an absolute steal, and comparable even...to lipglasses by MAC.

This look is perfect for days like today: rainy. (Or storming as though it were the apocalypse, whatever.) It's not too heavy so you really have no worries about wear and tear through the day, but on the other hand it gives a lot of natural glow and radiance that makes you look fresh. Despite the freezing cold, hair-ruining dampness, and unattractive but mandatory parkas. So without further ado, a look that is synonymous with one of my favorite drinks on a chilly day: Vanilla Latté.

About this look:

Since both eyes and lips are relatively low on color impact, it's good to go with a pink-y blush to keep from washing out entirely, especially if you're as pale as I am. The same goes for using a lipshine/gloss; doing a pale shade in a matte texture looks awesome, but for this look it would be a bit too "dead" if you catch my drift. The slightly warmer nude liner helps kick it up a bit without turning it into something else.

One thing I rediscovered in my Ulta makeup kit from...Spring, I think...are the two pots of shimmer powder, one in white and one in pink. They're gorgeous and sheer, just enough to give skin/eyes/lips a pretty and soft glow without overdoing it. They went over really well on my lips, unlike many more heavy duty, holographic glitter powders and gels, which often feel gritty and...nasty.

The best hair for this look (I know, right? Matching hair, go figure.) is something soft and down. If the lips were darker/warmer I'd say a bun, because this all strikes me as French to start, but leaving soft romantic hair around the face helps detract from the severity of the lack of high pigmentation. Which is nice, sometimes. You really don't have to worry about this look fading away or looking like you spilled Juicy-juice all over your face at the end of the day. It holds up well and looks soft and pretty.

So I finally gave in to the temptation. I started a makeup blog.

I picked out a name, a template, and voila! here we are. People always ask me about my makeup, and I belong (ecstatically) to groups of other makeup fiends online, so I thought, "Why not compile all my virtual makeup crap onto one site?" To start things off, my first face of the day for this blog. In which I will end up posting mostly FotD (Face of the Day), some tutorials, and reviews when I feel so obliged. The first...FotD of SF Dollface.

About this look:

It's actually one of my favorites because it's classy, simple, and looks like you put in a lot more effort than you did. The eyes are usually the most time consuming, but here a quick neutral palette with a slight shimmer gives a natural glow without taking more than a couple minutes. I just swept a matte bone color from lid to brow bone, then dabbed on a light toasted almond, and finished the shadow with a really translucent espresso color in the outer crease and outer lid. The best thing about using shadow for a liner is you have a lot more control. I dampened my liner brush, loaded it up with black shadow, applied a medium-thin line, then let it set while I did my brows and mascara. When I was ready, I went back with a slightly fluffier liner brush and smudged it a bit. You have to be careful with the liner on this look, because a too-harsh line will compete with the red lips and make you look too angular. The lips are easy; I use a brush to fill in the lipstick after lining. At the very end I went over the cupid's bow and lower middle lip with my liner pencil to make sure none of that gorgeous red would migrate and undefine my lips into the giant mass they are.
